Friday Potluck

It's that time of the week again!

  1. I'm so happy it's Friday for so many reasons, but the two biggies are: 1) Tonight I'm going to a sleep over. Yes, I am 2 years away from 30 and i'm going to a sleep over! One of my girlfriend's talked her hubby into using some of his traveling points and booking us a room at a hotel. So tonight 5 of us will gather in our room, eat junk food, swim and watching movies! I'm ready! and 2) James and I are going camping this weekend. We love us some camping!

  2. The other day i got text from my friend T. Marie that said "I fell in zumba." A good friend would worry, but I'm not a good friend! I busted out laughing. And then called her to laugh some more! She was laughing too-- so i didn't feel bad. The funniest part was that she fell while trying to race another girl to a front row spot. T. Marie and I make fun of the "zumba nazis" who are always trying to get front row -- and this week she was one of them!

  3. James and I have been talking about coming out of the dark ages: we are thinking about getting cable! Don't get too shocked, we aren't getting anything fancy that comes with a box or HBO or anything. Just the cheapo stuff where we could watch the Food Network and Discovery Channel. There will be no DVR or Tivo (My VCR will still be used) Once upon a time we had cable. We loved it -- too much. Then about 2 years ago we decided to cut down our budget until James finished school. Turns out that no cable was actually a good thing. Instead of vegging out on the couch watching The White Rapper Show or I Love New York, we started this thing called "Going on Dates." It's been nice -- but so would watching some Rock of Love.

  4. The best compliment a blogger can get is "I read your blog every morning" or "I get mad when i log on and you haven't posted yet" and even better "I can't start my day without your blog." Recently I've had all three! So thanks to everyone who is reading this morning. And a special shout out to all my fans at the State Capitol!

  5. If this does not make you smile, you are nuts (or have too much botox):

  6. I have a new food addiction: freezing Yoplait Whips yogurt. I'm not a huge yogurt person, and I typically don't like the Whips kind. But the other day i saw a commercial that said it was yummy frozen, so like a good brain-washed consumer, i went to Wally and bought 3 Yoplait Whips and froze them. YUMMY!

  7. My summer goal has been to grill something delicious once a week. I'm an avid griller, but I'm trying to do more than the usual hot dog, chicken or burger. So far i've done salmon (I burned it -- apparently i should not put it on the bottom rack and then go inside and watch TV) and i did a steak (cooked perfectly medium-well! i high-fived myself...and then dropped my steak. Just kidding!) What should i cook next?

  8. It's summertime, which means Big Brother is back on CBS! As most of you know, i love all things Reality TV (except shows like The Bachelor/ette, i think it's ridiculous to find love that way), so i'm so excited that Big Brother is back. I started watching this years ago with my mama. She loved her some reality TV too! I like to think she's chill with the big man watching The Amazing Race and Survivor!

  9. James and I love to rent movies (he's actually prefer the theater, but i always fall asleep, which is a waste of money). We rent a movie about once a week -- Thank God for the Red Box! This week's rental was Keanu's Reeves' The Day the Earth Stood Still. First let me say that I think Keanu is a terrible actor -- he plays the same guy in every movie -- but for some reason i like everything he's in. Well, almost everything. The Day the Earth Stood Still was terrible. Bad acting, bad/confusing story line. Just dumb. I have the old-school original and it's pretty good. It's sad when you redo a classic and jack it up (I'm pretty sure that's what's gonna happen when they remake Footloose with Zac Efron).

  10. I've seen a lot of bloggers do a question and answer forum, where folks submit questions, and the blogger answers them in a later post. I think this is pretty interesting, so i think i'm gonna give it a try. So starting today, feel free to submit me a question and i will answer it (as long as it's not too personal -- i'm not answering boxer or briefs. that's no one's bizness!). But i'm pretty open, so i'm sure I will have something to say about whatever is asked, so ask away!

Yeeeeaaaa, Friday Potluck!!!

The only bad thing abut cable is, you get all of these channels, and only really watch about 10...at the max. For me, it's Lifetime, Food Network, Discovery Health, Oxygen, and We. So I'm wasting my money.

Oh girly! I've never missed an episode of Big Brother. My summer doesn't REALLY start til' BB is on the tube! T. Marie cracks me up. She didn't tell me this story at our lunch yesterday. But I enjoyed a good laugh at her expense this morning!! Grilling...try grilling some veggies in a little "pocket" of foil. Yummo!!! Have fun camping this weekend..it's gonna be a hot weekend. Be careful. Oh and by the way...I actually LOL everytime I read your blog. My co-worker thinks I'm crazy b/c about the same time everyday I just start cracking up about something you've written. Keep up the good work.

We saw a lady fall at McDonalds today and it was much better than my fall! She had cuss words to accompany her fall! I'm still laughing. And by the way, my zumba moves are way better than the other girls so I totally deserved that spot!

I love BB!!! I didn't want Jesse to come back though. I don't like him.

Oh, and I don't have any questions because I know the answer to them all.

My suggestion for the next "grilling" - country style ribs, barbequed of course. I rented The Day the Earth Stood Still, and thought it was dreadful. I'll take the original over the new one any day.

BTW...I have left an award for you at my place - enjoy!

Did you know that you can take the codes Redbox texts you on Mondays & use them more than once? You can use it once per card/per email. So if you have 4 credit/debit cards & 4 different email addresses, you can get four free movies. I've gotten 7 movies on some days because I have that many cards

@BPD: wow! that's a little too much work for a free movie! 4 email addresses?! and 4 debit/credit cards?! i'll have to just stick with my one freebie every once in a while!

@red head: yes, you do know all the answers!

My family uses Red Box and raves about it. We don't really have any in Seattle, so I have to stick with my Netflix. You are SO right about that Earth Stands Still movie! I thought it was blah!
